I believe in your creative power. I believe it can help you tune into who you truly are... Who you're meant to be. And I believe this will change the world.

On the topic of self-destruction

I just blogged a good (but long!) article on the topic of self destructive behavior in young women. I've been fascinated with this subject for a while now... I look at Britney, the Olsen Twins... all these young women nearly disappearing off the very magazine covers they grace because of breakdowns, eating disorders, overwork until the point of exhaustion. They are their own worst enemies.. and it's not just them. I feel it inside of myself, I see it in my mom, my friends. I see it in our country, and in humanity in general. Look at the way we relate to the earth - a symbol of our physical bodies - we are destroying it too. And we pretend that we are separate from it, meanwhile we're just killing ourselves.

What is the cause of this? Is it earth's own self-defense? Is it a new form of epidemic like cholera? Rather than die by physical, gross illness, we go out by self-sabotage? Is it all brain-laundry we've been subjected to for the benefit of corporations wanting to sell us jeans made in China? Why would we turn against ourselves like this? What can we do to turn this self-destruction into self-love?

I'll continue to investigate I guess...
